About this Job
Police officers spend much of their shift patrolling neighborhoods, campuses, roadways, or other assigned areas to prevent crime, watch for suspicious activity, and respond quickly when something goes wrong. They investigate accidents and illegal activity, interview witnesses and suspects, collect evidence, take photos or make diagrams of scenes, and write detailed reports that document what happened.
